This is Mummy's Original Recipe, much loved by Neha and Meghna. I cheat and make it with chicken mince sometimes.
Ingredients
1/2 kg beef mince
2 onions
1 inch ginger
mint leaves chopped
3 tomatoes
1 sour lime
3 green chillies
6 flakes garlic
Method
Heat a little oil, add chopped onions, crushed ginger and garlic, brown.
Then add the mince and fry (takes a while) until brown.
Add chopped tomatoes, salt and hot water.
Cook in the pressure cooker.
Now mix in the pepper, garam masala, mint leaves, sour lime juice.
The mince should not be too dry, yet there should be no liquid running out.
Boil potatoes, mash well, add salt and a little sugar. Take some mashed potato, in your palm. (Oil palm first). Flatten it out and then place some of the mince in the centre. Fold the edges of the potato over, so that the mince is completely enclosed in potato. Smoothen all cracks. Flatten using a spatula, to make a thick disc shape. Dip in beaten egg, and then in bread crumbs. Shallow fry until golden brown.
